AUBURN, Alabama Ja’Heim Hudson, pronounced JUH-heem, has committed to playing men’s basketball at Auburn University starting in 2024–2025 by signing a National Letter of Intent.
The 6-foot-7, 220-pound forward from Hinesville, Georgia, transferred from SMU, where he averaged 5.4 points and 3.4 rebounds per game while playing in 31 games for the Mustangs in the previous campaign. In addition, he made 17 blocked shots and 18 thefts.”Talking to the last three coaches Ja’Heim has played for – in high school, at Georgia State and at SMU – I respect all three of those coaches and all three said he was one of their favorites,” Bruce Pearl, the head coach, stated. “He is an excellent teammate, worker, and guy. Elevating his game, he gives our front line a ton of depth and still has two years left to be eligible. He will undoubtedly have an effect on our program and give our squad a new level of grit.”
Hudson had a season-high 21 points with four rebounds against Indiana State in the 2024 NIT First Round. Additionally, he averaged 9.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per game when traveling to Spain with the squad for their preseason abroad. the 2023 summer.
Hudson began his collegiate career playing two seasons at Georgia State, where he was a member of the Panthers’ 2022 NCAA Tournament and Sun Belt Conference Tournament Championship squad. Hudson is an Athletic Director’s Honor Roll student. In his sophomore year, he defeated Coastal Carolina, scoring a career-high 26 points with five rebounds, two assists, two steals, and two blocks. During that season, he led the club in both shot blocks (22) and rebounds (6.9 avg.).He has 20 games with double figures in scoring and four double-doubles in his career. In terms of statistics, Hudson’s pick and roll score on Synergy was in the 93rd percentile.
During his junior and senior seasons, the former member of the all-state first team and all-Cobb County second team guided Wheeler High School to consecutive state titles, including a Top 25 ranking in 2020–21. Among the Top 75 power forwards in the nation in the Class of 2021, he was a three-star recruit who also participated in AAU basketball for the Game Elite and HYPE Hawks.
