The Denver Broncos have been in training camp for over a week, with more than a week to go until their first preseason game. In the quarterback competition, it appears one player has been ruled out for the starting position.
First-round pick Bo Nix is expected to eventually secure the starting job, but the key question for this season is how soon that will happen and what the interim plan will be. It looks like Jarrett Stidham will start until Nix is ready. If the season began today, Stidham would likely take the lead, as he has a slight edge over Nix and a solid grasp of Sean Payton’s system. He is a reliable option who should maintain stability until Nix is prepared to step in. Nix is almost certain to start at some point in 2024, likely early in the season, and he has a month to prove to the coaching staff that he can take over in Week 1.
Meanwhile, Russell Wilson seems to be in a distant third place in this competition. If the team chooses not to keep all three quarterbacks, his playing future could be at significant risk.

If the season were to start today, Stidham would most likely get the nod. He might be just a tick ahead of Nix and he has a thorough understanding of what Sean Payton wants to do. He’s a safe option and a quarterback who will hopefully hold things down until Nix is up to speed.
