Assistant general manager Ian Levin, a longtime figure within the Mets organization, will be departing at the end of the current season. Levin’s departure follows the recent exit of another key staff member, Director of Major League Operations Elizabeth Benn. This leaves the Mets with one remaining assistant general manager,
Ben Zauzmer, alongside Eduardo Brizuela, who has been playing an increasingly prominent role as vice president and special assistant to Stearns. Other notable members of the baseball operations team, such as Tommy Tanous, Jonathan Strangio, and Nick Spar, remain in place.
Levin’s career with the Mets has been a long and varied one. He first joined the team as a media relations intern in 2005 and gradually rose through the ranks, eventually becoming assistant GM in 2021. His departure will mark the end of a tenure that saw him serve under seven different general managers over 20 seasons.

David Stearns, who is now leading the Mets’ baseball operations, has expressed interest in bringing in a general manager to serve as his second-in-command, though he has not yet made this a priority. There is speculation that Brizuela could step into this role,
but Stearns has indicated that the search for a new GM will likely be addressed in the offseason. He noted that his current responsibilities have kept him too occupied to give much thought to the matter at this time.
With the departure of key front-office personnel like Levin and Benn, the Mets are poised to continue their evolution under Stearns’ leadership.
