Barcelona forward Ferran Torres is now seriously considering a move before the transfer deadline amid interest from Newcastle United, according to reports.
The Magpies have made five signings so far this summer with Lewis Hall, Odysseas Vlachodimos, Will Osula, Lloyd Kelly and John Ruddy all completing moves to St James’ Park, while Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh are the two players who have left the club for fees over the summer.
On Tuesday, Eddie Howe expressed continued “hope” for adding new players to their squad amid speculation about interest in Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi.
There are also rumors about targeting a winger before the transfer deadline, but Howe tempered expectations about acquiring both a centre-back and a right-sided forward, stating, “Probably not, no.”
When asked which position he would prioritize, Howe explained, “I understand the question, but there’s a need to respect the current squad members. I value every player in every position. We are focused on strengthening the team and making the right choices for new signings.”
