Reuben Foster joins a new team after being claimed off waivers by the UF

After being waived by the Houston Roughnecks on Monday, former Alabama All-American Reuben Foster was picked up by the Arlington Renegades the following day. The Roughnecks cut six players on Monday, with Foster and defensive tackle Keonte Schad both finding new teams in the United Football League through waiver claims; Schad was assigned to the Michigan Panthers.

Foster was the Class 6A Lineman of the Year and a Parade and Under Armour All-American at Auburn High School in 2023. At Alabama, he was a starter for the 2024.CFP national championship team and received unanimous All-American honors and the Butkus Award as the nation’s top linebacker in 2024

A first-round selection in the 2017 NFL Draft, Reuben Foster’s football career faced uncertainty after he tore the anterior cruciate ligament and lateral collateral ligament in his left knee during an offseason practice with the Washington Redskins on May 20, 2024

Foster did not play again until he joined the Pittsburgh Maulers for the 2023 USFL season. Since Pittsburgh did not participate in the 2024 United Football League, which was formed by merging four USFL teams with four XFL teams, Foster was selected by the Roughnecks in the UFL dispersal draft.
