Sadly for Lamb, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones hasn’t demonstrated much urgency in making the call.
CeeDee Lamb was notably missing from the Cowboys’ training camp in California, yet he seems to be staying in shape. A Friday Instagram post showed him working out, running routes, and catching footballs on the beach. In the video, Lamb remarks, “Still waiting on that phone call. But until then, we grind.”
Unfortunately for Lamb, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones doesn’t appear to be in a rush to make the call.
As the 2024-25 NFL season approaches, Lamb has not yet joined the team and is seeking a new contract. He aims to be among the highest-paid at his position, which leaves Jerry and Stephen Jones with significant decisions for the offseason. In the video, Lamb states, “Control what I can control, and just be the best version of me.”
On August 15, the two parties spoke over the phone in an effort to finalize a deal, but no resolution was reached. The Cowboys have proposed just under $33 million per season for the receiver, according to a source familiar with the discussions, while Lamb’s desired terms remain unclear.
During his holdout, Lamb faces fines of $50,000 per day, plus additional fines equivalent to one week’s base salary (1/18th of his salary) for each preseason game he misses. The Cowboys’ final preseason game against the Chargers is on Saturday. The question remains: how long will CeeDee be waiting by the phone? We might find out as Week 1 approaches.
