Kaizer Chiefs have initiated their pursuit of a leading striker who has been frequently associated with the club.
The Citizen has reported that Chiefs have officially approached 30-year-old Congolese striker Fiston Mayele.
“Coach (Nasreddine) Nabi has informed Chiefs management that he desires Mayele, and now Chiefs have submitted an offer to Pyramids. They are currently waiting for Pyramids to respond with their decision.”
The club is evaluating serious loan offers from two other Betway Premiership teams for 24-year-old Christian Saile, who is a countryman of Mayele. There are also rumors about the potential sale of Thatayaone Ditlhokwe. Last season, Chiefs struggled offensively, scoring only 25 goals in 30 league matches. Saile was primarily utilized in a right-sided attacking position rather than as a central striker.
Chiefs will start their 2024-2025 season with an away match against Marumo Gallants. Fans can anticipate challenging fixtures in the early weeks, including games against the champions and SuperSport, who finished seventh last season. Coach Nabi aims to have new signings like Fiacre Ntwari, Rushwin Dortley, Bongani Sam, Gaston Sirino, and Inacio Miguel fully integrated, fit, and performing well. He also hopes to add more players before the transfer window closes on September 20.
