BREAKING NEWS: Dallas Mavericks Just Announce The Signing Of Another Top Talented Experienced Superstar Player From….

Warriors owner Joe Lacob on Klay Thompson: “He decided to leave before free agency began

This summer, the Golden State Warriors bid farewell to a cherished star as Klay Thompson signed a multi-year contract with the Dallas Mavericks. Warriors owner Joe Lacob expressed that while it was difficult to see Thompson leave, it wasn’t entirely unexpected.

“Klay made the decision prior to the beginning of free agency and informed us he didn’t intend to come back,” Lacob told Tim Kawakami. “He called me and said he needed a fresh start for various reasons.”

Lacob emphasized his desire for Thompson to remain a Warrior for life, similar to Draymond Green and Stephen Curry, but acknowledged that things didn’t work out as hoped.

Thompson’s move to Texas marks the end of a successful era for the Warriors. Over 11 years, Thompson became a franchise legend, contributing to four championships, earning five All-Star selections, and cementing his status as one of the NBA’s greatest shooters.

Despite a series of injuries and diminishing playtime leading to a strained relationship with the Warriors, Thompson’s departure offers him a chance at rejuvenation with the Mavericks. While he won’t be expected to carry a heavy load, his shooting prowess and championship experience are anticipated to bolster the team.

Thompson’s new journey begins as the Warriors continue their championship pursuit with Curry, Green, and Jonathan Kuminga. Although a return for Thompson is always a possibility, both sides have accepted the need to move forward.
