LOGANSPORT, Indiana: Daniel Muir, a former player for the Indianapolis Colts, and his spouse, Kristin Muir, have made bond and departed the Cass County Jail ahead of their next hearing on charges related to the Silver Alert for their reportedly mistreated teenage son.
The Cass County Circuit Court judge set bond at $5,000 cash or $25,000 surety in an urgent hearing on Friday, July 12.
Bryan Coulter, Kristin’s attorney, released a statement that included the following:
“We anticipate the Muirs’ release on bond later today, and we appreciate the judge’s prompt resolution of these issues. A hearing may be postponed, but it is still set for Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at 9 a.m.
The Muirs had earlier appeared in court on Thursday, July 11, to contest the ruling of the judge not to grant them bail.
The judge in Cass County Superior Court declined to make a decision on the matter. The judge ruled that even though the initial judge was on vacation, the couple’s attorneys need to have filed their appeal with him.

The Muirs were apprehended by SWAT and are now facing charges of obstruction of justice. In addition, Daniel faces violence charges for allegedly hitting his teenage son.
The Cass County Circuit court refused to set bond following the Muirs’ initial hearing, citing their flight danger.

A Silver Alert was issued in response to a tip from the Muirs’ granddaughter regarding their son. She produced a picture of the fourteen-year-old youngster with the black eye.
When Ohio police pulled over the Muirs’ vehicle, they were unable to locate the teen inside. The teenager was discovered at the Logansport house of the Muirs, per court documents.

The next court date for the Muirs is set for Tuesday, July 16 at 9:00 a.m.

Court records that were just made public provide information about the alleged maltreatment of Bryson Muir, who vanished on June 16 and was discovered alive on July 3.
In court filings, Daniel told someone else why Bryson was in trouble over a taped phone call that, according to Indiana State Police investigators, seemed to start recording mid-conversation. Daniel continues by describing the inappropriate action in more detail, claiming that the person “whooped his a** like a grown a** man.”
According to court filings, Daniel stated in the taped chat that Bryson would have been executed for his actions if the family had resided in their “homeland.” Daniel claimed that since the Muir family resides in the US, Bryson could not be executed for his deeds.
After that, investigators allegedly spoke with Kristin, who gave them an other account of how Bryson sustained his injuries. Court records state that Kristin said that because Bryson enjoyed trains, he strolled over to the train tracks near their Logansport residence while he was taking out the trash. Kristin claimed that while they were close to the tracks, Bryson told her he had been punched by an unknown person.
Kristin informed detectives that the Muirs made the decision to relocate Bryson to his grandmother’s house in Ohio in order to ensure his safety.
Kristin said in court filings that she took Bryson away from his grandma because she was “making decisions she didn’t agree with.”
