Klay Thompson is getting ready to start a new chapter in his Dallas Mavericks career. He’s joining a team that finished just three wins shy of capturing the NBA Finals the previous season.
Nico Harrison, general manager of the Mavericks, expressed excitement over adding Thompson. He spoke with ESPN on the team’s significant offseason acquisition during Saturday’s Mavericks Summer League matchup with the Utah Jazz.
It was an obvious choice for us, particularly in light of the finals. Klay Thompson was the component that was missing, and we knew it.
The Boston Celtics defeated the Mavericks in five games in the NBA Finals series. Thompson is now adding depth to their lineup to go with Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic.
Klay Thompson reportedly turned down a bigger contract from LA to play for Luka and the Mavs.
NBA player Klay Thompson recently discussed collaborating with the pair.
Thompson remarked, “I’ve known Kyrie for a very long time.” “Ever since we met, he has shown me genuineness. an extremely modest individual. I find it amazing that he came here, embraced the city, and accepted his role. They had a great chance to win everything. I think we can assist them in overcoming that last obstacle.
“Doncic texted me to let me know how excited he was,” Thompson said. “I answered with the same fervor. Respect for one another is evident there. I recall telling him how much I like his playing and the way he encourages his teammates when I saw him following the 2022 Western Finals. His potential is infinite. I believe he found that to be pleasing.
