“A franchise may convert a player (specifically on a non-guaranteed one-year minimum) to a two-way contract” through an Exhibit 10 agreement. A player may agree to accept a $50,000 maximum Exhibit 10 bonus. The two-way contract is assured for that sum if it is converted, per Sports Business Classroom.
Williams will participate in the NBA summer league with the Nuggets, but if the Nuggets decide not to keep him, he will be available for signing with other clubs.
According to Durando, the Nuggets also signed Creighton guard Trey Alexander to a two-day deal. Alexander signed with Auburn in the 2021 recruiting class before deciding to transfer to Creighton.
Williams’ profile grew during the NBA pre-draft process as he took part in numerous workouts and showcases around the nation.
However, he was not included in many mock drafts or big board rankings. Williams, who played for five years in college, is among the more experienced players in the draft.
At the end of his Auburn career, he led the team in both games played (141) and victories (114). Throughout his career, he scored 1,305 points, ranking in the top 25 all-time at Auburn.
His finest year occurred in his final year as a vital member of Auburn’s squad that won the SEC Tournament in 2024. In the 2023–24 season, Williams averaged 12.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game. At 39.5%, the 6-foot-8 forward’s 3-point percentage was the highest of his college career.
A knee injury Williams sustained against Kentucky in February, which first looked to be far worse than it actually was, almost terminated his season. Rather, Williams missed just one game and ten days in all. That, according to head coach Bruce Pearl, is evidence of Williams’ power and agility.
Williams is the sole member of Auburn’s 2023–24 squad who is going to the NBA. Star center Johni Broome was persuaded to return to Auburn and skip one more season in the NBA by Pearl and the coaching staff. Of all the players on Auburn’s team this past season, Broome was the most likely to be chosen in the NBA Draft.
Guard Lior Berman, who will no longer be eligible after the 2023–24 season, was also lost by Auburn. Berman intends to continue playing professionally in Israel despite tearing his ACL against Mississippi State in March. The remaining departures from Auburn were all transfers. Tre Donaldson attended Michigan, K.D. Johnson attended George Mason, and Aden Holloway attended Alabama.
Two freshmen, four-star forward Jahki Howard and five-star guard Tahaad Pettiford according to 247Sports composite, were recruited by Auburn. Transfer guards Miles Kelly from Georgia Tech and JP Pegues from Furman were also added to Auburn.
SMU transfer Ja’Heim Hudson was added by Auburn to fill the forward spot vacated by Williams.
